Blind Man Morris
Morris Minor Electrics
This page provides useful information regarding the wiring used on Morris Minors.
Due to model variation and later add ons, it is very difficult to provide a wiring diagram that covers all models accurately.

Therefore this page is intended to provide an aid to identification (which colour wires do what). It should also provide useful information for someone encountering an issue with their wiring or electrics.

Fuse Box

The fuse from A1 to A2 protects electrical items such as the horn and lights, which function regardless of whether the ignition is on or not.

The fuse from A3 to A4 protect the ignition system and items which operate only when the ignition is switched on. These include the stop tail lights, fuel gauge, flasher unit and windscreen wiper motor.

In later models an additional 10 amp fuse is fitted in the pilot light and tail light circuit and is in a tube found just below the regulator. This fuse is accessed by twisting and pressing in one end and pulling the assembly apart.
Control Box
The number of wires of each colour going to each section of the control box differs between models.
However, the colour and purpose of those wires does not.

Classic Car Wiring Colour Identification

Later on, tracer colours were added (thin colour included alongside the main colour – example: Brown with blue as seen on the control box above).

Tracer colours are used to identify the specific purpose of the wire.
